Amy Palomaki
First Grade Teacher
Mrs. Palomaki
Welcome to my web page! I am often asked what I like best about teaching. There are so many different things about teaching that make my job wonderful! My days are never the same! Every year I get to work with a new group of children whom all have their own unique personalities. As a result, every year is different and every day is a new learning experience for both the children and me! It is so invigorating to experience the excitement children have while learning new things!

The 2007-2008 school year will be my 15th year teaching. I graduated from Northern Michigan University where I majored in Elementary Education. During my student teaching in a 2nd grade classroom, I worked closely with children who had learning disabilities and decided to spend my graduate studies majoring in Special Education-LD. I have taught Head Start, 1st through 5th grade special education-LD, junior-kindergarten, kindergarten, and first grade. There are wonderful qualities about the children at all grade levels, but I have to admit that first graders are my favorite to teach! Their perspectives make me smile daily!

My husband, Scott, and I have two children that attend Classical.  Paige will be in fifth grade this year and Sydney will be in kindergarten. From both a teacher’s standpoint and a parent’s, I feel very fortunate to be part of Classical School. Our children are receiving an excellent education from a wonderful staff! I am looking forward to another great school year!
