First
Grade Teacher

As a child, I liked to play
school. I played school with the animals on my grandparents’ farm,
and when I visited my grandparents in Menasha, I played school with the
little girl who lived next door. It's hard to believe that this will
be my 20th year of "real" teaching and I enjoy it as much as I did as a
child. I have taught preschool, 5th grade, 2nd grade, and for the last
11 years, 1st grade at Classical School. I find teaching at Classical
School very rewarding because the children are interested in learning,
the parents are very involved, the teachers are fun and helpful to work
with, and the curriculum is fascinating.
My family and I live in Menasha.
In October, my husband and I will celebrate our 11th wedding anniversary.
We have one son, Alex, who will be in third grade here at Classical this
year. We also have a daughter, Elizabeth, who will be starting kindergarten
in the fall. They are both looking forward to starting their school adventures
in the fall. So am I!
This summer was busy as usual.
Alex and Elizabeth both took summer school classes, while I took a professional
development class. The three of us were busy studying! We had
fun traveling this summer. We took two long road trips. One
was to Virginia Beach, Virginia. While we were there, we spent lots
of time enjoying the beach and the waves of the Atlantic Ocean. We
also went to Jamestown, VA. We learned a lot about the lives of the
first settlers in America first hand. Our second road trip took us
out west to Custer State Park, Mount Rushmore and Yellowstone National
Park. Another educational trip with awesome, breathtaking views of
many different features of the land and close up views of different animals.
My favorite was the prairie dog. Our short trip this summer was a
return to Eagle River, where we rented a beautiful cottage as we had in
past summers. We enjoyed some shopping, boating, and swimming.
In my quiet time, I enjoy reading, listening to music and my summer hobby,
gardening.
