Daryl Schneider
Band Teacher and Director
Classical School Grades: 6-8

Mr. Schneider
I am starting my 33rd year of teaching; this is my 13th year with AASD.  Prior to Appleton I taught in Neenah (2 years), Kenosha (13), Oshkosh (5).  I have taught band at the elementary, middle, and jr. high level for the entire time and truly enjoy this age group.  I split my time between Einstein and Classical.  I’ve been at Einstein for 12 years.  This is my third year with Classical although several years ago I had the pleasure of working with the Classical 7th and 8th graders when they were housed at Einstein and participated in the music programs in that building.

I received my Bachelor and Master degrees in Music Education from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.  Most of my post graduate work has been at Vandercook College of Music in Chicago.  My major instrument is trumpet.  I enjoy performing all styles of music although my favorite is jazz.  My father was my high school band director and an early influence on my decision to be a musician.  My wife Kathy is the choral director at Einstein, and yes, working in the same building is a pleasure.  We also taught in the same building and shared an office in Kenosha for 11 years.  Our one and only child Brad lives in the area and has a degree in business.  We have a schnauzer, a cat, and two horses.  They keep us busy.  It wasn’t my idea to get all these critters; I was talked into getting the dog (our 2nd one), I found the cat (or perhaps she found me), and I married into the horses.  I enjoy mountain biking, fixing everything the horses break, and being with family
