I was born in Baraboo,
grew up in Merrimac and went to high school in Sauk Prairie.
After earning a BA
degree from North Central College in Naperville, Illinois, (physical education
major, language arts minor), I spent seven months active duty at Fort Polk,
Louisiana. (Yes, I was in the Army Reserve. No, I didn’t go to Vietnam.
Yes, I finished all six years as a Drill Sergeant.)
My first teaching
position was in Plano, Illinois, where I taught high school English, debate,
and speech. Appleton was my next stop where I was an assistant to the Athletic
Director at Lawrence University. While at Lawrence for 20 years I coached
football, men’s and women’s basketball, and women’s softball.
I also earned a Master’s degree from UW Superior, where one chapter of my thesis entitled “A History of Women’s Sports” was used as the Code of Conduct for the Women’s Independent Colleges, Women’s Athletic Conference (WIC-WAC).
I have sponsored and administrated my own basketball shooting camp for the past 23 years and spent parts of 12 summers in Denmark and Sweden helping to run international basketball camps.
This will be my fourth
year teaching at Classical School. I will also be teaching at Badger
Elementary School. I am looking forward to another great year!
