Norma Meidl has been teaching world languages for the Appleton Area School District for seventeen years.  During that time, she has taught all levels of Spanish and German for countless students at Appleton West High School, Appleton East High School and Roosevelt Middle School.  She started teaching at the Classical school 2 years ago.

An experienced educator, Mrs. Meidl is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin, and the University of Northern Iowa.  She completed her teaching certification at Lawrence University.  Her Master’s degree in Spanish Language and Literature was earned as a student in residence in Soria, Spain.  She is an active member of the Wisconsin Association of Foreign Language Teachers (WAFLT), and has presented and organized several conferences on their behalf.

Mrs. Meidl received certification from the Translator’s Institute of the University of Heidelberg (Germany), where she was a scholar in residence for three years.  She is a member of the American Translator’s Association, and with her skill is a principal translator of print materials for the Appleton Area School District and many businesses.

Highly regarded as an educator and translator, Mrs. Meidl has received the Heble Award from the Appleton West student body for excellence in her profession.  She is married to Kevin Meidl, artistic director of the Appleton Boychoir , conductor of the Badger State Girlchoir, and choral director at Appleton West High School.  They have two children, Christopher and Lauren.
