Classical School will soon begin its major fundraiser for the year. Knowledge-A-Thon, or KAT, is a pledge type fundraiser designed to help meet some of our school’s needs that aren’t covered by the school’s budget. KAT also enhances and reinforces our Core Knowledge curriculum in a fun and positive way for students, parents, and staff. It is designed to be a low cost/high profit fundraiser with all proceeds going toward our school, and no overpriced pizza or candy to sell.
Last year we raised
$21,400! A new record!
This year our goal
is to raise money for additional classroom materials for each teacher.
We also hope to help provide additional LCD projectors, mounts, Elmo projectors,
Interwrite Boards, printers and other technology needs/upgrades.
Our goal is to raise enough money for School Enrichment activities, and
Programs.
KAT Kick Off
On March 18th, we
will kick off KAT at 1:50 with an assembly in the Forum for grades K-8.
The students have a great time here, and parents are encouraged to attend
(word of warning – bring earplugs). As you know we are going to be showing
the winning student KAT videos.
Afterwards a KAT Booklet will be handed out to each student. This will contain 100 questions with answers, which are appropriate to each grade level, plus a Pledge Sheet. Questions have been compiled by teachers from each grade level and include all areas of Core Knowledge. Most of the material will have already been covered in class, but some will be new.
Pledges are based on how many correct answers the students achieve on testing day. The students will have several weeks to gather pledges from family and friends. Students can ask for a “per question” pledge amount, or a straight donation.
KAT Day
On Knowledge-A-Thon
day, April 23rd, each child will be verbally and individually tested.
Results will be tabulated, pledges calculated, and then the students may
begin collecting their pledges and returning the money to school the following
week.
We also need volunteers NOW to help with KAT Kick-Off and KAT activities.
