Classical School Directory
As a child, I liked to play school. I played school with the animals on my grandparents’ farm, and when I visited my grandparents in Menasha, I played school with the little girl who lived next door. It’s hard to believe that this will be my 28th year of “real” teaching and I enjoy it as much as I did as a child. I have taught preschool, 5th grade, 2nd grade, and for the last 19 years, 1st grade at Classical School. I find teaching at Classical School very rewarding because the children are interested in learning, the parents are very involved, the teachers are professional and personable and the curriculum is fascinating.
My family and I live in Menasha. In October, my husband and I will celebrate our 19th wedding anniversary. We have one son, Alex, who will be a junior at Appleton East this year. We also have a daughter, Elizabeth, who will be in 8th grade. I’m looking forward to starting another school year and marvel at how quickly my own children are passing their years in the AASD.
This summer, my husband and I took a trip to Italy. We walked the streets of Rome and saw amazing historical monuments like the Colosseum, the Vatican, and the Pantheon. Because Naples is famous for their pizza, we took the train there and each ate a whole pizza. Delicious! We also took the train to Pompeii and toured the ruins of the ancient city that was once burried under ashes by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. Amazing! Finally, we spent a few days in Venice, where we took a gondola ride and got lost in the maze of cobblestone streets. My favorite! Our children survived two weeks without us and were able to spend some time with aunts, uncles, and cousins. We had family visit us from California this summer. It was wonderful spending time with them. I planted a vegetable garden, but not much grew except tomatoes and carrots and peppers. That’s o.k. because I was busy being a world traveler. In my quiet time, I enjoy reading, listening to music, and spending time with family and friends.
