Classical School Directory
As a child, I liked to play school. I played school with the animals on my grandparents’ farm, and when I visited my grandparents in Menasha, I played school with the little girl who lived next door. It’s hard to believe that this will be my 29th year of “real” teaching and I enjoy it as much as I did as a child. I have taught preschool, 5th grade, 2nd grade, and for the last 20 years, 1st grade at Classical School. I find teaching at Classical School very rewarding because the children are interested in learning, the parents are very involved, the teachers are professional and personable and the curriculum is fascinating.
My family and I live in Menasha. In October, my husband and I will celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. We have one son, Alex, who will be a senior at Appleton East this year. We also have a daughter, Elizabeth, who will be a freshman at North High School. I’m looking forward to starting another school year and marvel at how quickly my own children are passing their years in the AASD.
This summer, we pretty much stayed close to home like many. We did get a chance to visit with family at a lake cabin up north a few times. My son fixed the fence around my garden and I was able to plant some new things this year. I planted cantelope and 2 melons grew. This was the first time ever having success planting melons! I also planted basil. I used the basil and tomatoes from my garden to make sauce. My whole family had fun using the sauce to make homemade pizzas. We did some painting and kitchen remodeling this summer as well to keep busy. I’m excited to begin this year of teaching even though we will not be in person. I’ve also been busy working on how to do “virtual” teaching. Here’s to an interesting school year!
