Classical School Directory
As a child I liked to play school. I played school with the animals on my grandparents’ farm, and when I visited my grandparents in Menasha, I played school with the little girl who lived next door. It’s hard to believe that this will be my 30th year of “real” teaching and I enjoy it as much as I did as a child. I have taught preschool, 5th grade, 2nd grade, and for the last 21 years, 1st grade at Classical School. I find teaching at Classical School very rewarding because the children are interested in learning, the parents are very involved, the teachers are professional and personable and the curriculum is fascinating.
My family and I live in Menasha. In October my husband and I will celebrate our 21st wedding anniversary. We have one son, Alex, who graduated from Appleton East last year. We also have a daughter, Elizabeth, who will be a sophomore at North High School. I’m looking forward to starting another school year and marvel at how quickly my own children are passing their years in the AASD.
This summer we spent a lot of time at the half acre piece of land that we bought this spring. We put our camper on the lot and spent time with family who have a cottage nearby. We spent time getting the lot ready to build our own little cabin (hopefully next summer) by cutting the grass, cutting the dead trees, and stacking the wood. We are not right on the lake, but we have a spectacular view. Every summer I plant a garden. This summer’s garden included lettuce, carrots, tomatoes, and cucumbers. There are a lot of tomatoes and cucumbers, but the rabbits have pretty much eaten all of the lettuce and have decided to munch on the carrot tops for their second course! I am excited to begin school this year teaching in person again. Here’s to a school year that’s a little more back to “normal”.
