2017 Summer School information now available!

Summer school information, including course offerings at all AASD sites and various camps and special class offerings, is now available on the district website. On-site summer school registration for courses offered at Classical School will be held Wednesday, March 15, from 3:30 pm – 5:30 pm, in the Middle School wing. If you are unable to register on-site on March 15, you may mail your completed registration form or drop it off (after March 15) at the Classical School office. Please contact Kari Campshure with any questions related to summer school offerings at Classical School.

Reconsidering Reading – A Book Review: Doug Lemov and his colleagues from Uncommon Schools look at reading instruction of best practices in his latest book Reading Reconsidered. Our school has examined and utilized Doug Lemov’s book Teach Like a Champion and have found many of the teaching techniques found in that book to go hand in hand with our school’s educational philosophy. Update from the World Language Educational Program Committee (EPC): The World Language EPC, chaired by Mrs. Stacey Foley, is charged with identifying strengths and weaknesses in Classical School’s language program and making recommendations to the CCSA Board for changes, additions, and/or deletions in the present curriculum or instructional materials. At Classical, world languages include our Spanish program and Latin/Greek. Spanish: Señora Anna Cihlar is spearheading efforts to evaluate the goals of Classical School’s Spanish program. Informational Session: Wednesday, Jan. 11

Classical School will host an informational session on Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at 6:30 pm. The session will include a presentation to review the school’s mission and philosophy, time for questions, and the opportunity to view curriculum materials. A tour of the school will also be provided for those interested. Current Classical School families who would like to learn more about the school or share insight with prospective families are encouraged to attend. 2017-18 Classical School Enrollment

Classical School enrollment is based on a lottery system. Applications for the lottery for the 2017-2018 school year are accepted beginning November 1, 2016. Applications will be accepted for the lottery through February 17, 2017. Any applications received after February 17, 2017, will not be included in the lottery and will be added to the waiting list in the order in which they are received. Students who are currently attending Classical School DO NOT need to reapply; however, siblings who are not currently enrolled at Classical School, but wish to attend, must submit a completed application during the enrollment period to be included in the lottery drawing.
