“KAT” Kicks Off Friday, March 17

Posted on by Classical School

Knowledge-A-Thon – commonly referred to as “KAT” – is a fundraiser designed to help meet some of our school’s needs that are not covered by the school’s budget. KAT also enhances and reinforces our Core Knowledge curriculum in a fun and positive way for students, parents, and staff.

On Friday, March 17, we will begin the fun with the KAT Kick-Off in the Forum at 1:45 pm. Parents are encouraged to attend to catch the excitement! After the kick-off festivities, each student will receive a KAT Booklet containing 100 grade-level-appropriate KAT Questions/Answers and a Pledge Sheet. KAT questions may also be accessed on Quizlet.

We ask students to gather pledges from family and friends. Students can request a “per question” pledge amount or a flat pledge amount from donors. Parents, please consider asking your employer(s) if they offer matching donations. Please make sure that your child’s name is on the top of the pledge sheet and keep it attached to the questions.

The weeks leading up to KAT are also filled with fun activities designed to help them learn their KAT facts:

KAT Poster Contest:  Posters were due to homeroom teachers Thursday, March 2. Results of judging will be revealed at KAT Kick-Off.

KAT Star Week:  The week of March 20, students answer KAT questions during lunchtime to win a prize.

KAT Lottery Lollapalooza:  The week of April 3, students answer KAT questions to have their name entered in a daily prize drawing.

KAT Bonanza:  The week of April 10, Students answer KAT questions during recess to win treats.

KAT Spirit Week:  The week of April 17, students show their school spirit by wearing “KAT” ears and whiskers and dressing up as KAT questions/answers on testing day.

On KAT Testing Day – Friday, April 21 – students will be individually tested on the 100 KAT questions they have studied. Results will be tabulated, pledges calculated, and then the students may begin collecting pledges and turning in pledge money at school.

For more information about KAT or to volunteer to help with any KAT activities, please call or email Sheri Hartzheim at 920-450-7733 or sherisue@att.net. Thank you for your support!
