Big Arts in the Little Apple Closing Reception
Posted on by Classical School
This past fall, 3rd and 4th grade students listened to a piece of music and created art inspired by the music. The musical work was an orchestral tone poem, “Ein Heldenleben (A Hero’s Life), TrV 190, Op. 40” by Richard Strauss, that musically tells a story about a hero in a historical context. Students were encouraged to imagine the visual aspects in the music as they listen and how different elements in the song make them feel. Then use that to create their art pieces.
The almost 700 art pieces were on display around the Appleton community from April 5 – May 15. On May 19, for Art on the Town, all the pieces will be in Appleton downtown with the majority being displayed here at the Museum. There will be a closing reception on the 19th from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Building for Kids. Stop by and see the works of art created by AASD 3rd and 4th graders.
The Appleton Area School District is proud to partner on this initiative and to encourage the arts and creativity in our students.
