Jaclyn Kottman honored as Outstanding Young Choral Director

Classical School is proud to congratulate our choir teacher, Jaclyn Kottman, on receiving the OUTSTANDING YOUNG CHORAL DIRECTOR AWARD from the Wisconsin Choral Directors Association at their state conference on January 13, 2018. Established in 1993, this award honors teachers with ten or fewer years’ experience. In order to be considered for the award, candidates must be a current WCDA member who exhibit characteristics of a master teacher, including enthusiasm, energy, musicianship, student rapport, and professionalism; have made a considerable impact on the size, quality of performance, festival involvement, and visibility of the program; and/or have also made a commitment…

Sent to the Principal’s Office…OH NO! Hello Classical Families and Friends, In the back, or maybe the front of our brains, is a minor dread to be expected – unexpectedly – to speak to a figure of authority. As adults we can get jumpy about seeing the lights of a police car in our rearview mirror or an email from our boss asking to meet with us before we go home that day. When these situations occur, our hearts race and we quickly try to determine what is about to happen to us and if we have done anything wrong….

The New Year brings us to nearly the halfway point of our academic year which is a great time to report on some curricular areas that have been undergoing change. The 7th and 8th grade science classes began the year using the Integrated iScience Course 3 textbooks which were approved and purchased last year. The text has proven easy to learn from and the diagrams and examples have provided students with additional detail to help cement concepts. SAVE THE DATE: 2018 All City Strings Festival

The 2018 All City Strings Festival is at the Fox Cities PAC for two nights this year: Night 1: Monday, April 16th Night 2: Tuesday, April 17th at 7:00 p.m.   Different middle and elementary schools will be performing on each night. Additional Informational Session Offered

Classical School is hosting an additional informational session on February 7, 2018, at 6:30 pm. The session will include a presentation to review the school’s mission and philosophy, time for questions, and the opportunity to view curriculum materials. A tour of the school will also be provided for those interested. Prospective new families are encouraged to attend if they were unable to attend a previous session. Current Classical School families that would like to learn more about the school or share insight with prospective families are also welcome to attend.
