Classical School Directory
Welcome to another great school year of music making! I look forward to working with the band students and families at Classical School.
September 2019 marks the start of my 22nd year in education, and my second year in Appleton teaching at both Classical School and Einstein. I graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN with a B.A. in Music with Education Certification and then from the American Band College at Southern Oregon University with an M.S. in Instrumental Music Pedagogy. Prior to Appleton, I taught band for 20 years in the Hortonville Area School District. I addition to teaching, I am also a solo/ensemble accompanist, serve as a musician for my church, and travel the northeastern part of the state as an adjudicator for the Wisconsin State Music Association.
Music is important in my family. My husband—who I met in band!—is a music teacher in the Chilton School District. Our daughter is a 9th grader and plays piano, flute, oboe, and ukulele. Our 5th grade son plays trombone, ukulele, and guitar and also sings in the Appleton Boy Choir. Outside of music, we as a family love to travel, watch movies, and play board games. We also stay busy with gymnastics, baseball, and Lego League. When I have a few precious moments to myself, I love to read or work on piecing my newest quilt project.
“I would teach children music, physics, and philosophy; but most importantly music, for the patterns in music and all the arts are the keys to learning.” ~Plato
