Hello. My name is Susan Duesterhaus.  I am so happy to be starting my seventh-year teaching 2nd grade at Classical School!

Mrs. Campshure and I are excited to make this a great year for all our students!  The wonderful thing about Classical is the parent involvement.  Working as partners in your child’s education, we will strive to make this year a great one!

My husband, Jonathan and I have been married for 34 years. We have lived all over the world in places such as Alabama; California; Seoul, South Korea; Oklahoma; Pennsylvania; and Illinois.  We moved back to Wisconsin in 1995 to be near my family.   When they started having meetings for Classical School we went and decided it was the school for us!  We loved the rich curriculum of Core Knowledge, the daily world language starting in kindergarten and the rigorous academics that help kids strive for excellence in their school career.  All three of my children went to Classical School.  We have made many friends and enjoyed seeing our kids blossom, thrive and flourish here.

I grew up in Menasha and went to school in Kansas City. I earned my bachelor’s degree in computer information systems.  I met my husband there and ended up getting married in Seoul, South Korea.  For the next 15 years I was busy raising our family while my husband Jonathan, who is an Electronic Engineer, traveled extensively for his job.  When all my kids were in school, I decided I needed something to challenge me and decided to go back to school to get my teacher certification at Marian University.  Our oldest son, Jared, went to Classical School the first year it was open in Mr. Bomann’s 5th grade class.  He now lives in Richmond, VA and is a professor at VCU and Richmond University.  Our 2nd oldest is Parker, who graduated from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities with a bachelor’s degree in art and lives there now.  Our youngest is our daughter, Kenady.  She just earned her master’s degree in Education at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities and is starting her teaching career.

I am so excited and thankful for the opportunity to teach your children. I love watching them learn and grow throughout the year.  I am looking forward to meeting many new people and working with you and your students to make this year exceptional for everyone.
